Good content early T.L.S. 1p. 8vo., Princeton, Sep. 15, 1896 to publishers Harper & Bros., likely concerning his work, History of the American People. In part: "...I send to-day...the copy for chapters eight and nine of the Washington. Please let me see the proofs before casting...kindly send me proofs also of the last article...I will prepare the copy for the last chapter of the book at once...". Docketed at top, very good.
