Description:

Wehrmacht "Waffenrock", or parade tunic, constructed of "field grey" wool closed by eight pebbled metal buttons at the front. The collar is of forest-green wool with red piping and enlisted man's parade "litzen" collar tabs backed with red wool. The shoulders are each fitted with a sewn-in shoulder strap of forest-green wool with red piping and a border of silver brocade ribbon, with two brass "pips", together indicating the rank of "oberwachtmeister" ("master sergeant") of the artillery. The shoulder straps also each bear a shell metal device presenting the regimental number "15", and are each secured by a pebbled metal button bearing the numeral "1". The forest-green wool cuffs are again fitted with red piping and bordered by two rows of silver brocade ribbon, and are each fitted with two "armelpattern" tabs of red wool and silver brocade, each beneath a pebbled metal button. The scalloped rear vent is also fitted with red piping and secured with six pebbled metal buttons. The right breast bears a national eagle and swastika embroidered in silver bullion wire on forest green wool. The opposite breast bears a triple ribbon bar for the War Merit Cross, the Eastern Front Medal, and the German Life-Saving Medal, while thread loops below affix a Wound Badge in Black, with two additional sets of loops showing where further decorations have been removed. The let-hand sleeve bears an Artillery Gun Layer's patch embroidered in yellow thread on green wool. An artillery marksmanship award lanyard is affixed at the right-hand shoulder and the second button, constructed of braided silver bullion cord with an alloy shield depicting a national eagle and swastika with folded wings, backed with "field grey" wool and with a single bullet shaped aglet. The fabric tailor's label of Hans Gotz of Wurzburg is sewn inside the collar; no other labels or markings are present. The tunic is lined with olive-green silk or rayon, with an internal slash pocket at the left-hand breast. The interior also features a suspension tab on each side, each fitted with an oxidized chromed buckle. The tunic shows wear inside the collar and cuffs consistent with occasional parade and formal use, with a split to the stitching of the lining inside the left shoulder, and a single small moth nip to the rear just below the collar, else very good to fine.
