Description:

Exceptionally fine example a rare one-piece camouflage coverall, designed by the U.S. Army and used briefly in the Pacific Theater by the U.S. Marine Corps. The coverall is constructed of herringbone twill fabric, displaying a green "frogskin" camouflage pattern on the exterior, with a "desert" pattern within. The suit is closed at front with a torso-length zipper and bears two flap-covered patch pockets on the chest, with two additional patch pockets at the waist. The interior is fitted with integral suspenders, intended to support the weight of equipment carried in the pockets. The interior collar is size-stamped "42 L", while the right-hand waist pocket bears a fabric inspection tag from the Philadelphia Quartermaster's Depot, identifying the manufacturer as the "Progressive Coat and Apron Mfg. Co.", and dated November 7, 1942. Most interestingly, both legs of the uniform bear stapled paper "cutter's" tags near the cuffs, indicating that this example was never issued and retained in inventory postwar. The coverall shows one or two rust spots to the chest, else in fine condition.
