1776. PELEG WADSWORTH (1748-1829) was a brigadier general of militia, fought at the battle of Long Island and was second in command of the Penobscot Expedition. On verso he adds an A.D.S.: "received the contents of the within Warrant. P. Wadsworth". The text of the document is in the hand of JOSEPH WARD, Ward's aide-de-camp, and he signs at lower-left. Trimmed slightly at margins, mounting strip on verso, else very good. $800-1,200
