WALTER R. BENJAMIN Newspaper reporter turned autograph dealer, possibly the most influential of the nineteenth-century. A.L.S. on his firm's letterhead, 4pp. 8vo., New York, Jan. 14, 1893, to the American playwright Augustin Daly (and bibliophile). In part: "...This letter is confidential. I now offer you the Emmetts collection of Andreana. It is in seven thick octavo volumes, half bound in red Russian. It comprises [and here Benjamin lists the contents, with additional volumes including autograph material and relics]...In fact the full description would fill pages....If this interests you I should be glad to have you call...I have offered them to no one else...". Light offsetting, very good.

Shipment is sent USPS priority, USPS International Express (for most overseas) or UPS Ground at the auctioneer's option, signature required, unless other arrangements are made. Handling, shipping and insurance charges will be added to the invoice in one entry.
