Good lot of three items signed by notable U.S. Army generals of the Civil War, includes: GEORGE W. GETTY (1819-1901) Union brigadier general who commanded artillery at Yorktown, Malvern Hill and Antietam. He also commanded forces at Norfolk and Portsmouth. War-date signature on a 2 1/4" x 1" slip of line paper, adding his rank "Brig Genl Vols". Affixed to a slightly larger card backing, shows a tape mark at left, else very good. WITH: STEWART VAN VLIET (1815-1901) Union brigadier general who served as McClellan's supply chief who fought continuously with the Navy over transport of his supplies. Signature in black ink on a 3 1/2" x 2 1/2" card, adding his rank "Bvt. Major Genl" and the date "Dec. 2d 1865". Shows mounting remnants on the verso, else very good. WITH: CHARLES P. STONE (1824 - 1887) Union brigadier general accused of treason and imprisoned for the Union debacle at Ball's Bluff, later grudgingly given a command at Petersburg and Sabine Cross Roads. Signature in black ink on a 3 1/4" x 2" card, adding his rank "Brig Genl". Shows faint toning to the verso, else very good. Three pieces.
