THOMAS MCKEAN
(1735 - 1817) Signer of the Declaration of Independence, member of the Continental Congress and Governor of Pennsylvania. Partly-printed D.S. as Pennsylvania Governor, 1p., large folio, Lancaster, July 31, 1804, a deed for land issued to Jacob Spong for a tract of land in Erie. Boldly signed "Tho McKean" at the top left corner above an excellent wax example of the state seal. Countersigned by JAMES TRIMBLE, the long-serving Deputy Secretary of Pennsylvania. The document measures 12" x 20", and contains several prints of engravings. Heavy folds with some minor foxing and age toning, else very good.
