SOUTH WALES BORDERERS SERVICE DRESS CAP
World War I-era service dress visor cap of khaki wool construction, featuring a stiff circular crown and wool covered bill, with a brown leather chin strap affixed over the bill. The front of the cap bears the regimental badge of the South Wales Borderers, depicting a Sphinx over a banner emblazoned "Egypt", memorializing their service against Napoleon''s forces in Egypt. The interior of the cap is lined with treated black leather, with the interior of the crown bearing the faint maker''s mark: "...Compton Sons & Webb Ltd.", with the size 6 1/2 and a "broad arrow", indicating War Department ownership. Shows scattered mothing and expected wear, else very good. The South Wales Borderers would take part in numerous notable battles in their 280-year history, including Isandlwana and Rorke''s Drift during the Zulu Wars, Gallipoli during World War I, and Tobruk, the Normandy landings, and the capture of Le Havre during World War II.

Shipments are sent via USPS Priority, USPS International Priority, DHL (for most overseas shipments) or FedEx Ground at the auctioneer's option, signature is always required, unless other arrangements are made. Handling and shipping charges will be added to the invoice in one entry. Buyers should be aware that large, framed, fragile or odd shaped items can incur substantial shipping and packing charges. International shipments are invoiced by DIMENSIONAL weight, not the item weight. Please contact us for an estimate before bidding NOTE: Large, heavy or bulky items may not be shipped by the auctioneer - arrangements for shipping of these items via a third-party shipper may be arranged through the auction house. Customers who supply their own courier account number will still be charged a handling fee.
