Description:

SCOTS GUARDS UNIVERSAL PATTERN FORAGE CAP
Early twentieth century universal pattern forage cap of blue wool construction, with the outer edge of the stiff crown trimmed with gold piping and the black leather visor decorated with gold bullion, indicating use by an officer. The cap is fitted with a diced band of red, white and dark blue, and the cap badge insignia of the Scots Guards regiment of the British Army is affixed at front. The interior of the cap is lined with a brown leather sweat band embossed "Real Roan Leather", and the manufacturer''s mark of Herbert Johnson of London is stamped within the crown, along with a royal appointment. The initials "C A G" are also stamped within the crown. The interior lining is partially detached, and the interior shows some additional soiling, else very good. Also present is a mid-century black leather belt, 39" x 1 3/4", fitted with a 2 1/4" x 2 1/2" brass buckle bearing the insignia of the Scots Guards. Very good.
