700. SONS OF THE REVOLUTION FOUNDERS MEDAL A rare 14k gold Sons of the Revolution medal issued to a certain Gilbert Hodges who was one of nearly thirty men who assembled at Fanueil Hall, Boston in order to found that state's order of the Sons of the Revolution in October 1891. First organized in New York City, the Sons sought to honor and celebrate the memory of their member's Revolutionary War ancestors. Each medal measures, 1 1/4" x 1", bears an armed Colonial soldier on the front while a bust view of George Washington appears on the verso and is suspended from a silk yellow and blue ribbon. Hodges name and serial number 687 are finely engraved in the verso. The ribbon is a bit frayed with two stars missing front the face, else very good. $200-300
