RICHARD M. NIXON
(1913 - 1994) Thirty-seventh President of the United States who led during the Vietnam War, re-opened diplomatic ties with China and the U.S.S.R., resigned his office due to the Watergate scandal. Very rare signed note as President, penned in the hand of, and also signed by First Lady PATRICIA NIXON during their epic 1972 visit to China, Peking, Feb. 25, 1972. The President and First Lady write a doctor friend in New York: "...This card comes as a memento of our famous trip...Our best as always...". Nixon signs with his initials "RN". with his wife signing: "Pat". Also included are two postcards from Nixon's "18 minute gap" secretary Rose Mary Woods, sent to the same man and signed "Rosie" and "Rose Mary", friendly content, also sending a souvenir from her "historic" visit and greetings, etc. Three pieces, fine.
