Description:

ORIGINAL DRAWINGS BY AL FRUEH
AL FRUEH (1880-1968) American caricaturist for the New Yorker magazine, known for his biting political commentary. A fine pair of two rare original signed pen and ink drawings, each executed on a stiff board measuring 7" x 6 1/2" and lampooning French communism. Both were published in the radical Socialist magazine Good Morning published by Art Young, annotated in Frueh's hand and coming from his estate. The first, published May 29, 1919, shows the Grand Duke Nevawuk, known for his exacting dress, this time in overalls carrying a bucket. The second, June 5, 1919, shows "Society Notes from Odessa", with Baroness Pugnosey giving a manicure to a sailor [?]. Both very good.
