Description:

CHARLES ADDAMS
(1912-1988) American cartoonist whose macabre cartoons appeared in The New Yorker for many years and were the inspiration for The Addams Family television and film series. A superb original head and shoulders charcoal drawing of his beloved character Morticia Addams, executed on a 18" x 24" mounted sheet and inscribed to noted architectural photographer Ezra Stoller: "To Ezra Chas Addams '62". Stoller (1915-2004) photographed numerous modern architectural masterpieces by Frank Lloyd Wright, Mies van der Rohe, and so forth. This drawing was given to him by Addams after he photographed Addams' apartment in New York City. Very light toning to edges, otherwise very good condition. A wonderful item for display.
