Nephew (not adopted son) of Sitting Bull. Sitting Bull contributed much to One Bull and in return his nephew became a valuable assistant. One Bull was among the first to defend the village at the Little Bighorn and remained a reliable aid to Sitting Bull until the latter days of exile in Canada, a change in attitude that accelerated at Fort Randall and later Standing Rock, One Bull being among those who was implicated in the circumstances that led to the death of Sitting Bull. Immaculate cabinet card, No. 7 in Bailey, Dix & Mead's series of twenty-four photographs; verso is outstanding, recto is in like condition, the only intrusion being a previous owner's name written on the bottom edge. Excellent.
