NICETO ALCALA-ZAMORA Y TORRES
(1877-1949) Spain's representative to the League of Nations, first Prime Minister of the Second Spanish Republic, and then President from 1931-36. Away when the Spanish Civil War began, lived the rest of his life in exile in Argentina. D.S. in Spanish as President, 2pp., folio, Priego, Oct. 10, 1933, a letter of friendship and congratulations to Peru's newly elected President, Oscar Benavides. Benavides, a general, was named by the Peruvian Assembly to finish Luis Sanchez Cerro's term after his April 30, 1933 assassination. Boldly signed, "Niceto Alcala Zamora y Torres" in blue ink. Countersigned by ALEJANDRO LERROUX Y GARCIA as Prime Minister. Central folds with light toning and minor foxing, heavy remnants of mounting on verso of attached leaf, very good.
