30. ROBERT MORRIS (1734 - 1806) Signer of the Declaration of Independence, financier and politician. Morris was instrumental in the financing of Washington's armies, and was later financially ruined through his speculation in western lands. Unusual partly-printed D.S. as President of the Delaware and Schuylkill Canal Navigation Company, 1p. oblong 4to., Philadelphia, Aug. 4, 1792, a stock certificate for one share in said company unto a person by the name of "Naddan[?]". Docketing bears the ownership and dividend history of the share between 1793 and 1799. Light vertical folds, and light uneven toning, otherwise very good.
