29. (BENJAMIN LINCOLN) War date A.L.S. in the hand of his Aide de Camp, CLAIRBORNE BUTLER, 2pp. small 4to., Albany, Oct. 31, 1777. In the wake of Burgoyne's stunning surrender to American forces on the 17th, Lincoln takes care of some loose ends. The letter reads in full: "General Lincoln desires me to inform you that he paid when he was at Bennington, to Colo. Abel Marsh three hundred forty four pounds, sixteen shillings and four pence for eleven Yoke Oxen delivered Genl. Bailey for the militia under his command. As the Genl.is desirous to Settle with the paymaster he would be glad you could contrive to settle with him as soon as possible". Usual folds, a few minor spots, otherwise very good. $300-400
