JOHN HARVEY KELLOGG
(1852-1943) Physician, surgeon and avid advocate of health reform as dictated by the Seventh Day Adventists, Kellogg, along with brother Will invented and popularized the corn flake, revolutionizing American breakfast habits. Uncommon A.Q.S. 1p. 4to., [n.p.], June 26, 1927,to his friend, fellow nutritionist Curtis Freschel, in full: "...I admire your earnest effort to win friends for biologie and humanitarian ideals and an appreciation of the sentiment of that Latin Poet Ovid, 'take not away the life you cannot give, for all things have an equal right to live'. John Harvey Kellogg June 25, 1927". On brown letterhead, boldly penned in blue fountain ink. Rough right margin, otherwise very good condition, and bearing an A.Q.S. of another Freshel friend on verso. With a telegram to Freshel from Kellogg about his travel plans, dated Dec. 6, 1929. Also present is a 1958 Milwaukee newspaper clipping about Kellogg, entitled "Crusading Kings of Crunch and Crackle". Imprinted and vignetted stationery of Hotel McAllister in Miami, Florida, December 5, [1930s]. Autograph material of Kellogg is rarely encountered.
