FERDINAND DE LESSEPS
(1805 - 1894) French diplomat and promoter of the Suez Canal. A fine pair of items, the first a superb carte-de-visite portrait of Lesseps in head and shoulders, backstamp of Ch. Reutlinger of Paris, inscribed in French at lower portion of the image to a lady, sending his greetings to her and her husband, who was "Commander of...the Suez Canal...". With an A.N.S. on his wife's personal calling card imprinted: "Comtesse F. de Lesseps", not translated. Carte-de-visite bears a small fold at right margin, else very good; A.N.S. bears one tape remnant, very good. Two pieces.

Shipment is sent USPS priority, USPS International Express (for most overseas) or UPS Ground at the auctioneer's option, signature required, unless other arrangements are made. Handling, shipping and insurance charges will be added to the invoice in one entry. Buyer's should be aware that large, framed, fragile or odd shaped items can incur substantial shipping and packing charges. Customer's who supply their own courier account number will still be charged a handling fee.
