1077. MORRIS R. JEPPSON Fine S.P. 10" x 8" color, an image of the shell of a destroyed building in Hiroshima Japan (which still stands there today), bearing an extensive notation by Jeppson thereon. In full: "The shell of one of the few buildings left after the atomic bomb detonated over Hiroshima on 6 Aug. 1945. On the Enola Gay after the bomb was released, I counted 43 seconds. There was no flash to indicate that the bomb had detonated and therefore that the radar fuzing system had functioned properly. But I had counted too fast. In a few seconds it worked". He signs at bottom: "Morris Jeppson Weapon Test Officer Enola Gay Mission 6 Aug. 1945". Very fine condition. $500 - 700
