Truman An exceptional typed D.S. as President on White House letterhead, 1p. 4to., Washington [May 22, 1946], a Citation for Legion of Merit, Degree of Commander, presented to a Russian officer who distinguished himself for valor and service to the allies during World War Ii. It reads in part: ...Lieutenant General Vladimir Stephan Kuznetov, Commanding General, 40th Corps, Red Army... participating in battles which liberated White Russia and Poland despite furious enemy action and destroyed resistance in East Prussia he inflicted crushing blows that annihilated a German army group at the approaches to Berlin... to a triumphant junction with elements of the XIII Corps... at the Elbe River. Boldly signed by Truman, with the actual Legion of Merit certificate with embossed medal, signed by Secretary of War Robert P. Patterson and the Adjutant General of the Army. Two pieces, fine condition. A rare document!
