DEDICATING THE STATUE OF LIBERTY
Two rare pieces of ephemera relating to the Oct. 28, 1886 dedication of the Statue of Liberty, includes a 8" x 5" engraved image of the statue with a gold crest at top inviting the bearer to be present at the inauguration by the President of the "Statue of Liberty Enlightening the World", listing also the American committee members and signed in type by Gen. John M. Schofield, along with the very rare ticket for passage on the steamboat to island and admission to the platform for the inaugural events. The engraved invitation bears some light toning, the ticket is fine. On Oct. 28, 1886 President Grover Cleveland dedicated the famous symbol of America, ten years after its intended delivery in time for America's centennial.
