1060. SUSAN B. ANTHONY (1820 - 1906) American reformer active in suffrage, temperance and abolitionist movements instrumental in obtaining women the right to vote. Superb signed book, The History of Woman Suffrage by Susan B. Anthony and Ida H. Harper, Hollenbeck Press, Indianapolis, 1902, with a lengthy inscription on the front flyleaf of Volume IV. In full: "Mrs. P.D.H. - Political Equality Club Phelps Oratorio[?] N.J. This huge Vol. IV is sent to you because of the contribution to the Standing Fund - and its transfer to the publication of this book. May your club prosper - and you, and all women on the United States, reap the harvest of Full enfranchisement - is the hope of Yours sincerely Susan B. Anthony 17 Madison Street Rochester N.Y. 1820 - Feb. 15 - 1903". All four volumes are present, a complete set. The signed volume is very good. Volume I has the first few pages disbound but present and the cover has loosened from the spine, Volume 2 has two pages disbound but present, Volume 3 bears a tones spot to spine, all bear shelf wear but are otherwise very good. Such complete sets, with good content inscriptions, are rarely encountered. $1,000 - 1,500
