780. ORVILLE WRIGHT (1871 - 1948) American inventor and a pioneer of flight, Wright, with his brother Wilbur, made the first successful flight of a motor-driven airplane. Rare signed book, a program for the "Orville Wright Dinner of the Society of Automotive Engineers June 17, 1918 - Dayton Ohio", 32pp. soft cover program illustrated with half-tone photographs of early Wright planes and flights. It contains three articles by the brothers [1901-13, an article by each brother and a 1909 article by both brothers]. Undoubtedly printed in a very limited edition for the dinner at which the Society paid tribute to Orville Wright, Wright boldly signs on the cover: "To Edwin A. Elsbach with the compliments of Orville Wright". Very good to fine. 1,000 - 1,200
