WORLD WAR I STEYR 1914 SWISS MILITARY SERVICE RIFLE
A Steyr 1914 Bolt-Action Rifle in the 7.5 x 55mm Swiss caliber. This Swiss contract Steyr is a partially-matching fixed box magazine rifle, made in Austria, marked on the top of receiver chamber, showing a crown over a shield inset with a Swiss cross, additionally marked just below this crest with 'Y:1903/14' and is also marked on the left side as 'STEYR 1914'. Right side of the chamber is marked with a serial number stamp of '6832' followed by a stamped 'triangle', matching the number on the stock. Bolt serial number is '4527' with stamped 'triangle'. The fixed box magazine floor plate as well as some other small parts, marked with a single five-pointed star inspection stamp. All metal parts, including trigger guard and trigger, showing approximately 80% of their original finish and some light oxidation in various places. Multi-piece wood stock has a semi-pistol grip, finger grooves, showing a cutout for the missing cleaning rod, and is missing one barrel band at the fore-stock junction. To right side of stock and towards the rear, are two sets of numbers, one impressed blackened wood stamp of '6208 A', additionally, a thick arsenal over-stamped number showing a 'triangle' shape over '6832', matching the serial number of the receiver. Other elements of hardware present, in blued machined metal, is a nose cap with bayonet lug, stock bands, two blued metal sling loops, and a stamped metal butt plate lacking any finish. SOLD WITH: OD green military styled web sling, a non-collapsible custom made 'T-handle' cleaning rod, and a Swiss dual round chamber oiler with chain attached lids. Very good conditioned rifle in a rarely encountered caliber.
