He escaped the hangman, dying just before war's end. A.E.S. on verso of a letter from an unnamed sender, 1p. oblong 12mo., [n.p., n.d.], regarding the examination of some tobacco in storage. Endorsed on verso: "Provost Marshall Jn. H. Winder BG". Prominent folds with toning, signature weak, overall just good. $150-250
