Description: Winchester Model 1892 lever action rifle fitted with a 24-inch hexagonal barrel, full length tube magazine, open sight with peep, chambered for .32-20 WCF. Serial no. 112660 dates the rifle to ca. 1896. The gun is in fine condition, with the barrel and tube retaining about 80% of their original blue finish, the frame approximately 60% of its original finish. The lever, hammer, and butt-plate retain approximately 70% of the original finish, which largely on the frame is beginning to take on a brown patina. All metal components are smooth and utterly free of pitting. The bore is in fine condition, with strong rifling. The large retaining screw on the left side of the frame may have been forced at some point, and the screw which should be installed on the opposite has seemingly had its head hammered. The action is tight and functions perfectly. The stock and forearm retain most of their original finishes, the right side of the stock long ago adorned with round-head tacks as one commonly sees in the West. The stock shows a few typical superficial dings and scratches, as shown. Much better than usually seen.
