WILLIAM WILLIAMS (1731-1811) Signer of the Declaration of Independence and member of the Continental Congress. War date A.D.S. 1p. 4to., Hartford, April 22, 1780 to the Committee of the Pay Table requesting that "Capt James Watson, Commissary for purchasing Rum & Hay according to an Act of Assembly in their Session April Last for the Sum of eight hundred pounds Bills of this State to enable him to pay for Flour purchased for the use of this State & to make a further purchase agreeable to...the Govr's Councill of Safety... " Endorsed by Watson on verso noting receipt of 4,000 pounds. Some minor ink erosion resulting in a few minor losses, usual folds with archival reinforcement on verso, neatly laid into another sheet, else very good. $400-600
