WILLIAM A. BYRD(1843 - 1887) American surgeon who, 1884, recognized appendicitis, and performed the first successful appendectomy for its cure. Rare, bold signature penned on an 8vo. sheet adding Dec. 27, 1869. Blurring to ink, sheet bears overall foxing, just good.
