Description:

ABRAHAM ARDEN BRILL(1874 - 1948) Austrian-born American psychiatrist who, after studying with Jung in Zurich, became on the earliest and most active exponents of psychoanalysis. Fine association T.L.S. on his letterhead, 1p. 4to., New York, Dec. 15, 1927, to controversial writer George Sylvester Viereck. In part: "...Thanks very much for sending me your paper on Freud. I...agree it is not a mere interview. I know it is an excellent portrayal of the man as I know him, perhaps slightly changed through his illness...". Viereck was an ardent Freudian, and brought this conviction to millions through the pages of Hearst newspapers and his own journals and books. German-born and reputedly the illegitimate son of Kaiser Wilhelm I, he became a well-known Nazi sympathizer, so much so that he was indicted by the U.S. Government for a violation of the Foreign Agents Registration Act in 1941, and was imprisoned from 1942-1947. Folds, very good.
