Description:

WEHRMACHT GENERAL OFFICER'S VISOR CAP
A fine example of a Wehrmacht General Officer's visor cap, constructed of greenish-gray wool twill in a high peaked ‘saddle' shape, over a band of dark green wool, with a black lacquer-finished light-brown. The crown of the cap and the edges of the band are trimmed with metallic gold bullion piping, darkened with age, with a yellow celleon double chin cord with adjustment knots secured over the visor with a gilt-finished pebbled button on each side, sewn to the sides of the cap through eyelets on the reverse. The peak of the cap displays a gilt-finished right-facing eagle badge, over a gilt-finished metal bullion wreath surrounding a metal national tricolor cockade with a wool center. The metal insignia is attached through the interior lining with split pins. The interior of the cap is lined with purplish-brown artificial silk, and features a brown leather sweatband. The label is protected by a plastic diamond sweat shield, printed with a maker's label. The top of the crown shows two red stains, with three small moth nips to the band at the rear. The visor shows some wear to the black lacquer, with appropriate wear to the sweatband and sweat stains to the lining. In very good condition overall.
