Description:

1301. GERD VON RUNDSTEDT (1875-1953) German field marshal who led the blitzkrieg attack on France, seizing the country within two weeks, defeated by Allied forces in Normandy and in the desperate Battle of the Bulge. A.L.S. on the verso of carte-pneumatique letterhead, 1p. 8vo., Warsaw, Nov. 10, 1916, in German to an illegible recipient. Not translated, but mentioning "...Tomorrow his Excellency arrives here. He intended to stay here all winter, if possible. That you signed a 3000 Mark note loan was very patriotic...". Signed at conclusion, and additionally signed "Von Rundstedt" twice on address panel. Boldly written and very good. $150-200
