1302. FRANZ VON PAPEN (1879-1969) Chancellor of Germany and Vice Chancellor in Hitler's early years of power, von Papen was accused and later acquitted of war crimes. Fine association A.L.S. 1p. 8vo., on Obersasbach, Baden personal letterhead, May 16, 1954, in English to his close friend, writer George Sylvester Viereck. In part: "...Very many thanks for the wonderful poem 'Bankrupt'. It indeed gives voice to the agony of mankind. The confusion of our present days is terrible...I don't share your opinion that a savior will not come a second time. For we know that he will come when mankind vanished to redeem all who had faith into his laws and appearance...". Boldly penned, blind paper clip impression at top edge, with holograph envelope.
