Good lot of three items signed by Union generals of the Civil War, includes: JAMES A. WILLIAMSON (1829-1902) Union brigadier general who commanded at Vicksburg, Chattanooga, and the Atlanta Campaign, received the Medal of Honor for his actions at the Battle of Chickasaw Bluffs. A.L.S. "J. A. Williamson", 1p. 8vo., Chicago, April 1, 1891, to Ben W. Austin. Williamson thanks his correspondent, the secretary for the Trinity Historical Society in Dallas, for naming him an honorary member, and transmits a photograph (not present). He signs at the conclusion in black ink. Mounted to a larger backing sheet, ragged at the left edge, else very good. WITH: SETH WILLIAMS (1822-1866) Union brigadier general active at Gettysburg, Petersburg and Atlanta. He was also adjutant general of the Army of the Potomac. War-date partly-printed D.S. "S. Williams", 1p. 4to., "Head-Quarters, Army of the Potomac", Sep. 18, 1863, ordering Brig. Gen. Henry E. Davies to report to Maj. Gen. Alfred Pleasonton for assignment, by order of Gen. George Meade. Williams signs at the conclusion in black ink. Shows folds, toning to the edges and two small tears to the left edge, else very good. WITH: ALPHEUS S. WILLIAMS (1810-1878) Union brigadier general who assumed command of Mansfield's corps after the latter was wounded at Antietam, later led troops during Sherman's March to the Sea. Signature "A. Williams" in black ink on a 3" x 1 1/2" slip of paper cut from a document, with his rank "Bvt. Maj. Genl. Comdg." executed in another hand below. Affixed to a larger backing card, else very good. Three pieces.
