Good lot of ten Civil War-date pay accounts, all signed by notable Union brevet generals, includes: WILLIAM S. ABERT (1836-1867), partly-printed D.S., 1p. folio, [n.p.], Dec. 31, 1862, a pay account for Abert and two servants, 'John' and 'George', described at the bottom as 'Negro boys'. Signed at the conclusion, adding rank 'Lieut. Colonel'. Original folds with minor splits, slight toning, else very good. WITH: THOMAS J.C. AMORY (1828-1864), partly-printed D.S., 1p. folio, [n.p.], Aug. 31, 1861, a pay account for Amory and two servants named 'George' and 'Allen', almost certainly African-Americans by their physical description at the bottom. Signed at conclusion in black ink, adding rank 'Col. 17 Mass Vol.' Original folds, else very good. WITH: PHILIP P. BROWN (1823-1881), partly-printed D.S., 1p. folio, [n.p.], Oct. 31, 1864, a pay account for Brown and two servants, a white man and a woman named as 'Jane', with a 'col[ored]' complexion. Original folds with notable splits thereto, else very good. WITH: JAMES V. BOMFORD (1811-1892), partly-printed D.S., 1p. folio, [n.p.], Oct. 1, 1863, a pay account for a Capt. James Cromie of the U.S. Invalid Corps, signed by Bomford in the remarks field in black ink, adding rank and a note certifying Cromie's rank and position. Cromie's servant is recorded as 'Jessie', with complexion described as 'black'. Original folds, else very good. WITH: ASA P. BLUNT (1826-1889), partly-printed D.S., 1p. folio, [n.p.], Feb. 2, 1865, a pay account for Blunt and his servant George Brown. Original folds, with the two halves neatly separated along the center fold, else very good. WITH: JOHN E. BENDIX (1818-1877), partly-printed D.S., 1p. folio, [n.p.], Sep. 12, 1862, a pay account for Bendix and his two servants, African-American Henry Loydd and an Alex Boyd.
