Good lot of thirteen items signed by Union brevet generals of the Civil War, includes: WILLIAM WILSON (1823-1874), good content A.L.S., 1p. 8vo., "Tammany Hall", April 24, 1861, to Thurlow Weed, in full: "My command will march at once we are now holding ourselves in readiness at Tammany Hall 800 men certain, will march at 11 am if you will furnish transportation and guns." He signs at the conclusion in black ink, adding his rank "Col." Shows folds and slight toning, with an old catalog description affixed at bottom left, else very good. WITH: CHARLES H. WHITTELSEY (1832-1871), partly-printed D.S., 2pp. folio, Brandy Station, April 26, 1864, a requisition for ordnance stores for the "5th Battery, Maine Vols.", including solid shot "...to replace ammunition expended in target practice..." Whittelsey signs in black ink at the conclusion, approving the requisition. Shows folds, slight toning and printing show-through from the verso, else very good. WITH: HENRY M. WHITTELSEY (1821-1873), A.L.S., 1p. 4to., Vicksburg, Nov. 7, 1865, to Maj. Gen. Manning F. Force, forwarding requested copies of general orders (not present), and stating that he is seeking officers to take charge of railroad operations at Meridian. He signs at the conclusion in black ink, adding his rank "Col..." Shows folds and mounting remnants to the verso, else very good. WITH: CHARLES A. WHITTIER (1840-1908), manuscript E.S., [n.p.], May 12, 1863, on the verso of a manuscript D.S., 1p. folio, White Oak Church, April 27, 1863, an inventory and inspection report for ruined commissary supplies. Whittier signs in black ink, approving disposal of the goods. Shows original folds and some toning, else very good. WITH: DANIEL D. WILEY (1837-1893), manuscript E.S., Brandy Station, March 3, 1864, on the verso of a partly-printed D.S., a receipt for the delivery of rations. Wiley signs in black ink, acknowledging the receipt of the supplies. Shows original folds and toning to the edges, else very good. WITH: ROBERT WILLIAMS (1829-1901), printed D.S., 1p. 8vo., Washington, D.C., Feb. 22, 1864, a set of general orders transmitting a resolution of the House and Senate, extending thanks to Gen. William T. Sherman. Williams signs at the conclusion in black ink. Shows slight toning to the edges, else very good. WITH: JAMES G. WILSON (1832-1914), A.L.S., New York, Feb. 19, 1909, to a Mr. Winter, inviting his correspondent to prepare a poem for the "Hudson-Fulton Celebration". Shows slight toning to the edges, else very good. WITH: THOMAS WILSON, manuscript L.S., 2pp. 4to., [n.p.], September 24, 1867, a "true copy" of a letter from Gen. George C. Meade to Gen. Ulysses S. Grant, recommending Wilson for a Brevet grade. Wilson signs in black ink at the conclusion. Shows a mounting remnant to the left edge and slight toning, else very good. WITH: MOSES N. WISEWELL (1827-1888), partly-printed D.S., 1p. 4to., Washington, D.C., May 24, 1864, to a Capt. John T. Durang, directing him to appear before the Surgeon of the Board of Enrollment. Wisewell signs at the conclusion in black ink. Shows folds and very slight toning to the edges, else very good. WITH: JOHN S. WITCHER (1839-1906), A.L.S., 1p. 4to., Washington, D.C., Nov. 11, 1879, to a Col. H.C. Corbin, accepting an invitation to a a reunion of the Army of the Cumberland. He signs boldly at the conclusion in black ink. Shows folds with slight splits, slight toning and some minor paper loss at the top right corner, else very good. WITH: JAMES WOOD JR. (1820-1892), partly-printed D.S., 1p. large folio, [Georgia], June 30, 1864, an "Abstract of Provisions" issued to the 136th New York Volunteers. Woods signs at the conclusion in black ink, adding his rank "Col." Shows original folds with some small splits to the junctures, with some ink spots, else very good. WITH: STEWART L. WOODFORD (1835-1913), bold signature in black ink on a 2 1/2" x 4" card, adding the date "October 1, 1888". Show a few faint pencil inscriptions, else very good. WITH: SAMUEL M. ZULICK (1824-1876), partly-printed D.S., 2pp. oblong 4to., [n.p., n.d.], a "Consolidated Morning Report" for the 29th Pennsylvania Volunteers. He signs at the conclusion in black ink, adding his rank "Major". Shows mild toning and chips to the top edge, else very good. Thirteen pieces.
