Good lot of ten items signed by Union brevet generals of the Civil War, includes: ORLANDO BROWN (1827-1904), partly-printed D.S., 1p. oblong 4to. Norfolk, Nov. [n.d.], 1864, a monthly return for all animals, vehicle and harnesses in Brown's possession as assistant quartermaster. He signs at the conclusion in black ink. Shows original folds and minor toning to the edges, else very good. WITH: JOSEPH S. FULLERTON (1835-1897), A.E.S. on a 3 1/4" x 2 3/4" slip of paper cut from the verso of a document, Atlanta, Sep. 22, 1864, forwarding the absent document to another officer, by the order of Maj. Gen. David S. Stanley. Fullerton signs at the conclusion in black ink. Shows minor toning at the edges, else very good. WITH: SAMUEL T. BUSEY (1835-1909), signature in black ink on a 3 1/2" x 2" card. Very good. WITH: THOMAS H. BUTLER (1819-1889), A.L.S., 1p. 8vo., Indianapolis, Nov. 10, 1880, to a B. Derry, informing his correspondent that he never received a previously-dispatched letter. Very good. WITH: LANGDON C. EASTON (1815-1884), partly-printed L.S., 1p. 4to., Fort Leavenworth, June 14, 1869, to a Lt. Col. M. Ludington, requesting a report of all burials and other cemetery activities in his district in New Mexico. Easton signs at the conclusion in black ink. Docketed on the verso, shows original folds with slight splits and minor toning to the edges, else very good. WITH: JAMES A. EKIN (1819-1891), partly-printed L.S., 1p. 4to., Washington, D.C., Jan 3, 1868, to attorney F.R. Stanley of Chattanooga, responding to his correspondent's request for information on a Julia Churchill by requesting additional information. Ekin signs boldly at the conclusion in black ink. Show tear at the top left edge and lower left interior, with original folds, else very good. WITH: THEDORE B. GATES (1825-1911), manuscript L.S., 6pp. 4to., Brandy Station, Jan. 18, 1864, to Brig. Gen. J. Vanderpuel, briefly describing the wartime history of Gates' 20th Regiment, New York State Militia, including their presence at Bull Run, South Mountain, Antietam and Fredericksburg. Gates signs at the conclusion in black ink, adding his rank "Col. Comdg." Shows original folds with slight splits, with a few period ink spots and minor toning to the edges, else very good. WITH: JOSEPH W. FISHER (1814-1900), partly-printed D.S., 1p. oblong 4to., [n.p.], Feb. 23, 1863, a provision return for the hospital of Fisher's regiment. He signs at the conclusion in black ink, adding his rank " Col.", and with an assistant surgeon countersigning. Shows original folds and one or two spots of foxing, else very good. WITH: GEORGE P. FOSTER (1835-1879), partly-printed D.S., 1p. oblong 8vo., Burlington, July 18, 1878, a check from the Merchants National Bank withdrawing $75.00. Foster signs at bottom right in black ink. Punch cancelled away from the signature, else very good. WITH: HENRY N. FRISBIE (1829-1897), A.L.S., 1p. oblong 8vo., p[n.p.], March 16, 1863, to an apparently aptly named Major Payne, in small part: " I am happy to inform you that the language used is plain and bears no such construction as you choose to put upon it. If a man desires he can see most any thing he wishes..." He signs at the conclusion in black ink, adding his rank "Lt. Col." Shows original folds and ink bleed-through from another document, else very good. Ten pieces.
