Good lot of ten items signed by Union brevet generals of the Civil War, includes: ST. CLAIR A. MULHOLLAND (1839-1910), A.L.S., 2pp. 8vo., Philadelphia, Dec. 3, 1885, barely legible but apparently recommending an associate that his correspondent might contact for information on a aspect of the Battle of Gettysburg. He signs boldly at the conclusion in black ink. Shows original folds and a pencil biographical inscription, else very good. WITH: JASPER PACKARD (1832-1899), interesting A.D.S., 1p. 4to., [n.p., n.d.], a biographical sketch entirely in his hand, covering his early life through his post-war congressional career. He executes his full name at the beginning of the first line. Shows staple holes at top left, slight toning at the edges and mounting remnants to the verso, else very good. WITH: JOHN K. MURPHY (1796-1876), partly-printed D.S., 2pp. oblong 4to., [n.p.], Sep. 12, 1861, a "Consolidated Morning Report" for the 29th Pennsylvania Volunteers. He signs at the conclusion in black ink, adding his rank "Col." Shows a few spots of foxing and slight toning to the edges, else very good. WITH: BENJAMIN B. MURRAY (1828-1906), manuscript L.S., 1p. 4to., Augusta, Oct. 19, 1874, to a Capt. H.A. Pratt, calling his attention to muster rolls which list men who have not regularly reported for duty. He signs at the conclusion in black ink. Shows original folds, slight toning and one or two spots of foxing, else very good. WITH: REUBEN D. MUSSEY (1833-1892), Washington, D.C., Nov. 11, 1868, enclosing permission to take testimony in a case related to stolen cattle. He signs at the conclusion in black ink. Shows slight brushing to the signature, folds and slight toning, else very good. WITH: WILLIAM MEYERS (1830-1887), partly-printed D.S., 2pp. oblong 8vo., Omaha, Dec. 7, 1868, an otherwise blank requisition slip, with Meyers signing in black ink. Show chips at two corners, with mild folds and toning, else very good. WITH: WILLIAM A. NICHOLS (1818-1869), manuscript D.S., 1p. 4to., New York, June 20, 1849, transmitting a set of general orders commanding that all officers belonging to listed units station in New Mexico report for duty at Fort Leavenworth for deployment to Santa Fe, by command of Maj. Gen. Winfield Scott. Nichols signs at the conclusion in black ink. Shows some toning at the edges, else very good. WITH: JAMES OAKES (1826-1910), manuscript E.S., Springfield, Feb. 23, 1866, on the verso of a letter requesting that accounts be settled for a discharged soldier. Oakes forwards the letter to the U.S. Adjutant General, signing in black ink. Shows some damp stains, folds, mounting remnants and a tear at the top edge, else very good. WITH: ALBERT ORDWAY (1843-1897), signature in black ink on a 3 1/2" x 1 1/4" slip of paper cur from a letter, adding the salutation "Yrs. Very Truly". Shows mounting remnants to the corners, else very good. WITH: FRANCIS W. PALFREY (1831-1889), manuscript L.S., 1p. 4to., [n.p.], Jan. 4, 1862, a list of subsistence stores required by the 20th Massachusetts Volunteers. Palfrey signs at the conclusion in black ink, adding his rank "Lt. Col.". Shows original folds and slight toning to the edges, else very good. Ten pieces.
