Good lot of ten items signed by Union brevet generals of the Civil War, includes: ALEXANDER J. PERRY (1828-1913), signature in black ink on a 4 1/2" x 3 1/2" slip of paper, Governor's Island, Aug. 18, 1885, adding a salutation and his rank "Bvt Brig General U.S. Army". Shows folds, mounted to a slightly larger backing sheet, else very good. WITH: LOUIS H. PELOUZE (1841-1878), printed D.S., 1p. 8vo., Hilton Head, March 16, 1862, reproducing orders for newly arrived officers at Hilton Head. Pelouze signs at the conclusion in black ink. Shows a horizontal fold and slight toning to the edges, else very good. WITH: CHARLES L. PEIRSON (1834-1920), A.L.S., 1p. 4to., Boston, May 7, 1903, to a Capt. Isaac P. Gragg, accepting an invitation to serve on a general committee dedicating a statue to Gen. Joseph Hooker. He signs at the conclusion in black ink. Shows original mailing folds and a pencil biographical inscription, else very good. WITH: URI B. PEARSALL (1840-1907), A.L.S., 1p. 4to., Fort Scott, Kansas, May 26, 1889, to Gen. Henry M. Cist, requesting a copy of a third general's wartime letters. He signs boldly at the conclusion in black ink, adding his rank "Late Col 48th Wis Vols. & Bvt Brig Genl." Shows original mailing folds, small pencil inscriptions and one or two ink spots, else very good. WITH: EUGENE B. PAYNE (1835-1910), A.L.S., 1p. 8vo., Waukegan, Nov. 30, 1865, to an unnamed general, requesting a certificate demonstrating that a named soldier has reenlisted and mustered into an artillery regiment. He signs at the conclusion in black ink. Shows original mailing folds with the left edge slightly ragged, else very good. WITH: JOAB N. PATTERSON (1835-1923), manuscript D.S. 1p. 4to., [n.p.], Dec. 6, 1864, a "true copy" of a set of orders commanding Patterson to turn over ordnance stores to another officer. Patterson signs at bottom left in red ink attesting the veracity of the copy, adding his rank "Lt. Col. 2d N.H. Vols." Shows original mailing folds, slightly ragged at the left edge, else very good. WITH: JOHN G. PARKHURST (1824-1906), signature in black ink on a 3 1/2" x 1 1/2" slip pf paper cur from a letter, adding a salutation and his rank "Col..." Shows a pencil identifying inscription, else very good. WITH: JOSIAH PICKETT (1822-1908), partly-printed D.S., 1p. oblong 4to., "Near Portsmouth Virginia", April 21, 1864, a provision return for a company of the 25th Massachusetts Volunteers. Pickett signs at the conclusion in black ink, adding his rank "Col." Shows some foxing at lower right, with mailing folds, else very good. WITH: JOHN S. PLATNER (d. 1868), A.L.S., 1p. 7 1/2" x 7 1/4", Camp Stoneman, Nov. 3, 1863, to attorney Ira Tompkins, transmitting eleven dollars, "...amount of order you handed me against Sergt Lane Co A of my Regiment..." He signs at the conclusion in black ink, adding his rank "Lt. Col. Comdg. 1st Vet. Cavalry". Trimmed at the edges, shows original mailing folds and one or two minute spots of foxing, else very good. WITH: HORACE PORTER (1837-1921), signature in black ink in a 4" x 2 1/2" card, adding his rank "Bvt Brig Gen". Shows mild toning, else very good. Ten pieces.
