Good lot of ten items signed by Union brevet generals of the Civil War, includes: LUCIUS F. HUBBARD (1836-1913), signature in black ink on a 4 3/4" x 2" slip of paper, adding "Minnesota 1884". Affixed to a period 8vo. sheet with a biographical inscription, else very good. WITH: THOMAS H. HUBBARD (1838-1915), T.L.S., 1p. 4to., New York, May 25, 1903, to Col. Horatio C. King, regretfully declining an invitation to attend the reunion of the Society of the Army of the Potomac. He signs at the conclusion in black ink. Shows toning to the edges and original mailing folds, else very good. WITH: WILLIAM P. INNES (1826-1893), manuscript D.S., 1p. oblong 8vo., Cincinnati, May 25, 1864, a receipt for the purchase of a locomotive smokestack and casting. Innes signs his approval in black ink at bottom. Overwritten with a second approval in red and black ink, shows some ink spots and original folds, else very good. WITH: BRAYTON IVES (1840-1914), partly-printed D.S., 1p. 8vo., St. Helena Island, S.C., March 23, 1863, signed by Ives at the conclusion in black ink. Shows mounting remnants to the verso and paper loss to the bottoms corners where removed, with additional tears repaired with cello tape, else very good. WITH: SAMUEL M. JACKSON (1833-1907), A.L.S., 1p. 8vo., Armstrong County, P.A., Aug. 11, 1864, to Capt. J.P. Boggs, forwarding a requested order and lamenting the poor condition of his wife. Jackson signs boldly at the conclusion in black ink. Shows original mailing folds, ragged at the left edge, else very good. WITH: JAMES JOURDAN (1832-1910), partly-printed D.S., 1p. oblong folio, Feb. 15, 1862, a "Consolidated Morning Report" tabulating the strength of the 56th New York Volunteers. Jourdan signs at the conclusion in black ink, adding his rank "Lt. Col." Shows original folds and slight toning at the edges, else very good. WITH: NOAH L. JEFFRIES (1828-1896), manuscript L.S., 1p. 4to., Washington, D.C., April 1, 1865, to a W.H. Davis, regarding guidelines for official printings. Jeffries signs at the conclusion in black ink. Shows mounting remnants to the verso with chips to the edges, else very good. WITH: LEWIS JOHNSON (1841-1900), partly-printed D.S., 1p. 4to., [n.p.], Feb. 19, 1875, an account for postage costs and an acknowledgement of cash received from a paymaster. Johnson signs in black ink at the conclusion, executing his name again at the top of the page. Shows original mailing folds, else very good. WITH: JOHN S. JONES (1836-1903), signature in black ink on a 4 3/4" x 3 1/4" album leaf. Two additional signatures appear of the verso, minor toning to the edges, else very good. WITH: WILLIAM P. JONES (1815-1869), A.E.S. on the verso of a manuscript D.S., 1p. oblong 8vo., Yorktown, May 15, 1862, transmitting orders for a Lieutenant of the Independent Battalion of N.Y. Light Infantry to proceed to New York City for ten days to assemble recruits. Jones executes his signature on the verso, adding: "Transportation furnished to White House", and his rank "...Major, Provost Marshal". Shows a large patch of toning at the top edge, not affecting Jones' endorsement, with additional chips and damp stains, else very good. Ten pieces.
