Good lot of ten items signed by Union brevet generals of the Civil War, includes: STEPHEN H. MANNING (1834-1911), partly-printed D.S., 1p. oblong 4to., Brandy Station, May 1, 1864, a list of quartermaster's stores received by Manning, namely oats, hay and sacks. Manning signs boldly at the conclusion in black ink, adding his rank "Capt." Shows original folds, else very good. WITH: JOSEPH A. MATHEWS (1826-1873), partly-printed D.S., 1p. 4to., [n.p.], March 3, 1863, a "Special Requisition" form for an extensive supply of uniform components for the 128th Regiment of Pennsylvania Volunteers. Mathews signs at the conclusion approving the requisition, adding his rank "Col. 128th Pa Vol". Shows original folds and extensive foxing, still very good. WITH: WILLIAM MAYNADIER (1806-1871), A.L.S., 2pp. 8vo., Washington, D.C., Feb. 7, 1867, to a J.H. Barrett, forwarding a sergeant's widow's request for assistance obtaining a pension. He signs at the conclusion in black ink. Shows original mailing folds and mounting remnants to the verso, else very good. WITH: CHARLES S. MERCHANT (1795-1879), pre-war A.N.S., 1p. 4to., Fort Hamilton, April 12, 1842, to a military store keeper, enclosing a receipt for artillery casemate construction supplies (not present). He signs at the conclusion in black ink, adding his rank "Capt. 2d Artillery". Shows original mailing folds and a mounting remnant to the verso, else very good. WITH: PETER S. MICHIE (1839-1901), manuscript L.S., 1p. 4to., [n.p.], March 29, 1865, transmitting special orders for a company of engineers. He signs at the conclusion in black ink. Shows original folds, ink spots and slight toning to the edges, else very good. WITH: MORRIS S. MILLER (1814-1870), pre-war A.L.S., 1p. 4to., "Madison Barracks", Oct. 4, 1838, to an official at the Watervliet Arsenal, transmitting receipts for ordnance stores (not present). He signs at the conclusion in black ink, adding his rank "1st Lt. 3d Art. Ordn. Office". Shows original folds with notable splits thereto, with chips and toning to the edges and two pencil biographical inscriptions, else very good. WITH: EDWARD L. MOLINEUX (1833-1915), good content manuscript N.S., 1p. 12mo. Augusta, June 30, 1865, to Col. W.W.H. Davis, in full: "I take great pleasure in complying with your request & congratulate you upon the successful termination of the rebellion." He signs at the conclusion in black ink, adding his rank "Bvt. Brig. Genl. U.S. Vols. Comdg." Shows mounting remnants to the veros, else very good. WITH: JESSE HALE MOORE (1817-1883), partly-printed D.S., 1p. 4to., [n.p.], Jan. 31, 1864, a "Special Requisition" for a company of the 115th Illinois Volunteers, requesting a number of uniform components. Moore signs at the conclusion in black ink, adding his rank "Col." Shows original folds and slight toning, else very good. WITH: WILLIAM W. MORRIS (1801-1865), A.L.S., 2pp. 8vo., Fort McHenry, May 3, 1865, to a Major Brantz, enclosing his accounts for the month of April (not present). He signs at the conclusion in black ink, adding his rank "B G". Shows original mailing folds, else very good. WITH: JOSEPH J. MORRISON (1831-1911), partly-printed D.S., 1p. 4to., Alexandria, Aug. 1, 1865, a requisition form for forage for two horses. Morrison signs approving the request in black ink at the top left corner.
