Good lot of ten items signed by Union brevet generals of the Civil War, includes: EDMUND L. DANA (1817-1889), A.N.S., 1p. oblong 12mo., Wilkes-Barre, Aug. 31, 1867, to attorney Charles A. Jones, providing his autograph as requested. He signs at the conclusion in black ink, adding: "Bvt. Brig. Genl. late Col. 143d P[ennsylvania] V[ols.]" Trimmed and with slight chips to the edges, with slight foxing, else very good. WITH: JAMES J. DANA (1821-1898), A.D.S., 1p. 8vo., Washington, D.C., Dec. [n.d.], 1861, transmitting an order from Gen. George McClellan instructing all wagon masters that: "...trains passing through the city shall leave an interval... between every ten wagons..." He signs at the conclusion in black ink. Shows original folds, else very good. WITH: GEORGE B. DANDY (1830-1911), manuscript D.S., 1p. folio, Morris Island, Dec. 7th, 1863, a "Consolidated Report" on the quality of rations for four regiments. Dandy signs at the conclusion in black ink. Shows chips and mild toning to the bottom edge, else very good. WITH: NELSON H. DAVIS (1821-1890), A.N.S., 1p. oblong 8vo., [n.p.], May 16, 1863, to Gen. Darius N. Couch, asking him to report the strength of the 20th Massachusetts Volunteers. Davis signs at the conclusion in blue pencil. Shows original folds and mounting remnants to the verso, else very good. WITH: JAMES L. DONALDSON (1814-1885), A.L.S., 1p. 4to., Nashville, Feb. 2, 1865, to Massachusetts senator Henry Wilson, thanking him for previous correspondence. He signs at the conclusion in black ink, adding his rank "Bvt. Brig. Gen." A printed biographical extract has been affixed to the page, shows original mailing folds, else very good. WITH: OSCAR V. DAYTON (1827-1898), partly-printed D.S., 2pp. oblong folio, Washington, D.C., Oct. 31, 1863, a muster roll for the "...Field and Staff of the Invalid Corps, Depot Camp, Jefferson Barracks...", listing eight officers and three non-commissioned officers. Dayton signs on the second page in black ink, adding his rank "Lt. Col." Shows original folds with slight chips and soiling, else very good. WITH: CHARLES V. DELAND (1828-1903), printed D.S., 1p. oblong folio, [n.p., n.d.], a pre-signed blank tax stamp form for tobacco, signed by DeLand in black ink at lower right. Shows two punch cancels and original folds, else very good. WITH: RENE E. DERUSSY (1792-1865), manuscript D.S., 1p. 4to., West Point, June 23, 1838, transmitting the text of a letter from a John Q. Goncke, resigning as a West Point cadet at the request of his father. DeRussy adds an inscription at bottom referring the matter to the Secretary of War, and signs at the conclusion in black ink, adding his rank "Lt. Col." Shows original mailing folds, else very good. WITH: WILLIAM D. DIXON (1838-1914), A.L.S., 2pp. folio, Camp Pierpont, March 9, 1862, to his wife, Martha, detailing his regiment's imminent plans to march and reassuring her that she need not worry if she does not hear from him for a week. He signs at the conclusion in black ink. Shows original mailing folds, else very good. WITH: ASARIAH W. DOAN (1824-1911), A.E.S. on the verso of a partly-printed D.S., 1p. oblong 8vo., an indictment accusing a John O'Donnell of operating a business selling alcohol in violation of Ohio's laws. Doan adds his endorsement on the verso in black ink. Trimmed at the edges, shows original folds, else very good.
