U.S. NAVY 3"/50 CALIBER GUN TELESCOPIC SIGHT
World War II-era single-eyepiece telescopic gun sight, approx. 7" x 9" x 6 1/2", for use with the Mk. 27 twin mount 3"/50-caliber anti-aircraft gun during engagements against surface targets. The sight is fitted with a single eyepieces and a full-face cushion, with the metal casing painted sand-finish black overall. A maker''s plaque on the right-hand side identifies the instrument as a "Telescope Mk. 79", manufactured by the Honeywell Regulator Co. of Minneapolis. An unknown component appears to be missing from the left-hand side, however the optics are bright and sharp, and the exterior condition is very good to fine overall. The sight is housed in its original 12 1/2" x 9 1/2" x 10" sheet steel case, painted grey, stenciled with the sight''s model number, the weapon with which it was intended to be used and its overall weight. A surplus barcode label is affixed to the back of the case. Also present is a U.S. Navy Gun Pointer, First Class patch, in very good to fine condition.
