THOMAS JEFFERSON
(1743 - 1826) Third President of the United States, author and signer of the Declaration of Independence, ceased the importation of slaves to America. Partly-printed D.S. "Th: Jefferson" as President, 1p. folio, [Washington], Nov. 5, 1803, a scallop-top ship's paper issued to the "...Brig Swift of New York Alexander Douglass master or commander, of the burthen of One Hundred Fifty-Six & 74/95 tons or thereabouts, mounted with no guns, navigated with nine men...". Countersigned by JAMES MADISON as Secretary of State. Engrossment somewhat faded, signatures somewhat light, but still very legible, usual folds and light cockling, very light soiling at margins, else very good condition.

Shipping

Shipment is sent USPS priority, USPS International Express (for most overseas) or UPS Ground at the auctioneer's option, signature required, unless other arrangements are made. Handling, shipping and insurance charges will be added to the invoice in one entry. Buyers should be aware that large, framed, fragile or odd shaped items can incur substantial shipping and packing charges. NOTE: large, heavy or bulky items are not shipped by the auctioneer.
