Description:

THIRD REICH ALLGEMEINE-SS MUSICIAN'S OVERCOAT
An extremely rare example of the early Allgemeine-SS overcoat, showing collar tabs in the rank of Truppfuhrer (SS-Troop Leader) and in this case issued to a musician. This Allgemeine-SS overcoat is constructed of black wool in single breasted style with a white and black fleck piped collar. A simple SS runic collar tab embroidered in white thread is applied to the right collar, with the left collar showing the wool rank patch of Truppleader. The coat also bears a single Allgemeine-SS shoulder board in twisted pairs of black and silver cord, mounted to a black wool-covered cardboard backing and held in place with a single 10mm pebbled button and sewn in to the shoulder seam. Complete with early multi-piece Allgemeine wool armband featuring swastika roundel and the typical black stripes sewn to the armband at top and bottom borders, indicative of SS armbands, also with SS RZM tag to the reverse. Shoulder seams are fitted with sewn-in woven thread loops for attachment of the SS musician's 'swallows nests', in place on each shoulder, one of which bears and RZM paper tag on the reverse. The swallows nest musician's uniform accoutrements are constructed of a black wool base adorned with seven machine stitched alternating tress strips sewn in place, with an additional horizontal patterned tress strip to the bottom edge and finished off with twisted bullion fringe. In as-issued condition, lacking any cuff title. Sleeves show the French style deep cuffs. Front closure held with six matching silver-washed SS marked pebble buttons, factory sewn and marked: 'FRIEDRICH LINDEN LUDENSCHEID' with 'FLL" logo. The garment's lining is stamped '1933' and bears many additional size, maker, and inspection stamps as well, along with the initials of its owner, 'PS'. The back of the coat bears a belt secured with a single button at the meddle. Interior with partial black cloth lining. Overall a great original example with original insignia. Fine condition, and a great addition to any collection.
