LIEBSTANDARTE ALLGEMEINE-SS MUSICIAN'S TUNIC
Excessively rare Liebstandarte-SS Musician's Tunic, in superb condition, with signed analysis by famous SS collector David L. Delich and certificate of authenticity by History Hunter/Craig Gottlieb. Delich's own writing best fits as our description for this incredible uniform: 'The following is a description and detailed analysis of an Allgemeine-SS service uniform tunic for an NCO serving in the Liebstandarte SS. It was submitted to me by Mr. Craig Gottlieb for authentication. The black service uniform was first introduced for wear in 1932, and the cut remained virtually unchanged for the balance of the time it saw service. In 1935, grey uniforms, identical in cut to the black ones, were introduced for use to certain SS units. After the inception of the war in 1939, the black uniform was seldom worn, being replaced at first, by a field-grey version in 1938 as a dress uniform, which utilized minor changes. The black vestment was still used as a dress uniform, used during parades, for guard duty, by office personnel, and during other miscellaneous activities. This single-breasted tunic had a four button closure down the front, and had upper pleated pockets and two lower slash pockets. All buttons have an aluminum pebbled finish, and measure 2cm in diameter. Two pebbled grey-colored belt ramp buttons are located in the back at the waist. This NCO tunic was correctly issued in a smooth wool, and is in superb condition with no mothing or damage. It was worn as an open-collar garment. The jacket bears a tailor tag at the neck naming the firm of Bulag in Munchen. A tag in the inside left pocket was removed. No other tags or labels are present, and the tunic remains unnamed. There is a dagger hanger present in the inside rear of the lower-left slash pocket. The lining is of a black silk or rayon throughout, with typical white-striped sleeve lining. This tunic is for a member of an SS band, as the jacket has shoulder loops which display Bandsman's nests without fringe. All insignia is authentic -- a runic unit patch is machine sewn to the upper right lapel. The runic emblem was taken from the Germanic/Nordic alphabet and represents the letter 'S' (Seig) -- the symbol for victory. The rank patch bears a single stern (star) and a single rank litzen, denoting the rank of Scharfuhrer. These collar patches and the collar itself are piped in alternating black and aluminum twist cord in accordance with their rank. The shoulder strap, which only was was worn with this cut tunic is made up of black and aluminum twist cords in keeping with ranks from EM through NCO. A red brassard with black side stripes, and a black swastika on a white disc is hand-stitched to the upper left arm. On the upper portion of the left turn-back cuff, is a handstitched aluminum-embroidered cuff title, 'Adolf Hitler' in Sutterlin script. There is evidence that repairs were made of a probable temporary nature when the cuff band became damaged, and was never replaced with a better example. This style cuff band was in use between 1934 until just after 1936, when it was replaced by a machine-woven version. On the upper right sleeve is a home-made Alte Kampfer Chevron, given to those who participated in early campaigns that struggled for power and a foothold in the government. The upper left-hand breast pocket has two pairs of medal loops that hold a DRL Sport Badge in Bronze, and an SA Sport Badge in Silver. Above the pocket are thread loops that hold a ribbon bar representing an Iron Cross 2nd CI., War Service Cross w/Swords, Russian Front, SS 12 yr. Service, NSDAP 10 yr. Service w/cypher, Austrian Occupation, & Czech. Occupation w/Prague Bar. This All-SS tunic is, to the best of my knowledge, completely original to the WW II period both in manufacture and materials. David L. Delich...31 Oct. 2014'. The uniform remains in immaculate condition, and would be a stellar acquisition for any dedicated collector.
