(1829 – 1884) Texas lawyer, state legislator, judge, and Confederate brigade commander initially leading the 3rd Texas Cavalry and later additional cavalry in Forrest's Cavalry Corps. Mabry's brigade fought against Union forces in Mississippi, at Wilson's Creek and Pea Ridge, and was wounded, captured, and exchanged. Once source cites Mabry as having been promoted to brigadier general. During Reconstruction, Mabry returned to his home in Jefferson, Texas, where he was the leader of a KKK-style terror organization called the Knights of the Rising Sun. He was implicated in lynchings committed by the group in 1868, but he was never prosecuted. Rare multi-signed A.D.S., 2pp. legal folio, Manon Co., Texas, Nov. 16, 1867. Mabry pens a deed of conveyance for several parcels of land owned by him in Jefferson, Tx. and sold to one H. J. Perkins for 'Eleven hundred and Twenty Dollars in Gold'. Mabry has signed at conclusion. He has also signed and dated a revenue stamp at the top of the first page, and three times more within the body of the document. Near fine.
