(Star Spangled Banner) The very rare first magazine printing of our national anthem, Francis Scott Key's Star Spangled Banner as printed in the Analectic Magazine, abt. 80pp., November, 1814 Four verses are printed under the title Defence of Fort McHenry with the tune named, and there is a concise description of how Key came to view the bombardment with the British fleet while under a flag of truce, and his joy upon viewing the flag still waving the following morning. Other news includes a biography of Zebulon Pike, Mawe's travels in South America, and other essays, etc. An historic printing!
