SLAVE BILLS OF SALE
A lot of three pieces, including a partly-printed D.S., 1p. legal folio, Lawrence County, Ala., Nov. 24, 1823, an order of seizure against the goods of Reubin Rucker, Parker Alexander and William Wallace to satisfy a debt of $2,053.14. The sheriff "...levied upon the following goods and chattels of the above...one negro boy named Isaac one negro Girl and Child named Clara the Child named Moriah one Wagon and four work steers one Sorrel horse...." Uneven toning, some significant erosion resulting in a hole at bottom left, else good. Together with a manuscript D.S., 2pp. legal folio, Wake County, N.C., Dec. 23, 1851, an indenture between John C. King of Wake County and Drewery King of Raleigh in which the latter agrees to take in lieu of a debt of $75 "...One Negro girl by the name of Penney aged ten or twelve years, two mules and one Waggon one buggy and Harness...". Partial separations at folds, some dampstains, else very good. Also together with a manuscript D.S. 1p. legal folio, Wake County, N.C., Nov. 18, 1835 in which Rebecca Jones sells for $50 Riley C. Jones (also of Wake County), "...all my right title and interest in and to a certain negro man named Tom to have & to hold said Tom to him... Provided always and these presents are upon this special trust and confidence & upon this express condition that the said Riley C. Jones...shall and do permit and suffer me...to use keep and enjoy the said negro Tom during my natural life without paying or yielding any thing for the said negro...". Margins chipped and toned, horizontal fold separations, else good condition. Three pieces.

Shipment is sent USPS priority, USPS International Express (for most overseas) or UPS Ground at the auctioneer's option, signature required, unless other arrangements are made. Handling, shipping and insurance charges will be added to the invoice in one entry. Buyer's should be aware that large, framed, fragile or odd shaped items can incur substantial shipping and packing charges. Customer's who supply their own courier account number will still be charged a handling fee.
