1841 SLAVE BILL OF SALE
D.S. 2pp. legal folio, St. Helena, Louisiana, July 13, 1841, a slave bill of sale in which Leroy Lee sells to G. B. McLain one "...Certain Negro Boy Named Alexander of Dark Complexion and about Twenty years & Slave for life for and in Consideration of the Sum of Seven Hundred and Twenty five Dollars to me in hand paid which the Receipt is hereby Acknowledged...". The verso contains legal language formalizing the contract. Penned in dark blue ink, framed in double glass so both sides are visible, very good condition.
